Please attach your starbound.log file, without it I cannot diagnose the problem. It can be found in starbound/storage/starbound.log. Open it, copy the contents to pastebin.com and attach that link to me in the forums or a PM. Note: If you do not have 1.4 of starbound installed, you cannot use FU. It will not work. Buy the game. Other Note: You no longer need FrackinRaces if you use FrackinUniverse. Having both installed will crash you. companion add-on: want to help but can't code? The Modded Starbound Experience. By cuitandokter Last updated. The Modded Starbound Experience Youtube. Armor is an item type in Starbound. Armor's main function is to provide protection and passive bonuses to multiple stats, such as health, defense, energy and attack power. Health is the primary stat for melee armor while Energy is favored for firearm use and raw Attack Power is the favored choice of staff and wand users.
FU will change several aspects of vanilla play, in terms of survival (see EPP notes below for a specific example) and has a learning curve. Some find the learning curve rather steep. Others do not. So bear this in mind.
Play through the mod, work through the techs (including the genetically engineered plants!), and create stuff. Intro-level things unlock other things, and everything builds up until you are a kick-ass name-taking machine of destruction and SCIENCE. Q: How do I tell if it's working?
A: Quite simple. When you launch starbound, look at the main menu screen. Do you see 'Powered by Frackin Universe'? If so, you're good to go! Q: Will this work on a server? A: Read : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=734496146&searchtext=Frackin+Universe Q: How do I run a server? A: Read : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=735510285 Q: Do I need to delete my characters and universe before I start? Will it work with the character I already have? (or any possible variation of this question) A: No, you do not. However, you will need to travel a fair ways away on your starmap in order to generate the new biome types. Generally a few seconds will do. So yes, it will work with your existing character. I recommend a clean universe, personally, but that's only if you absolutely want to have FU planets right near your starting location. Q: I seem to be taking forever to generate my starting planets. It's in warp for like...ever. A: Starbound is generating a universe and looking for a starting system that fits exact specifications. Because FU adds so many biomes it increases the time it takes to find the setup. I recommend visiting the Science Outpost when this happens, which can be triggered from your shiplocker items. By the time you come back you'll have your starting planet visible and a quest to begin! Q: Where do I find (ITEM NAME)?!?!?! A: Everything has a source. You just need to figure out what that source is. That's part of the mod. Exploration, experimentation...just seeing what sort of things lead to others and eventually ending up with a hard-core science lab. The wiki link given on this page right after the FAQ is a good source of information. Q: Does FU add quests/missions or bosses? A: Yes Q: Does FU affect the main storyline or game progression? A: No. The only true progression change is with EPP packs (see above sections for info on that). Otherwise you can progress exactly as normal through the base game. Q: I can't find something on the Wiki A: The wiki is player maintained. So, if you find something missing you can feel free to add it in. Q: My EPP pack isn't working A: Yes it is. Read the mod description information above for more details about how they operate now. So we've already talked about building mechs in Starbound's 1.3 update. But now it's time for you to learn the basics of building your own space station in this sci-fi survival sandbox game.
Instead of having a base on a planet, you can have your own base in space. You don't have to be a land-dweller, you can be a cool kid living in the stars -- miles above everyone else.
Here are a few tips to get you started!
A Mandatory Quest to Get Started
The very first room of your space station. So empty, but with so much potential. Maybe we should shop at Space Ikea?
So it's that time again, where you need to complete a quest in order to start building your own space station in Starbound. The quest is called 'Your Very Own Space Station.' And your reward is obviously right in the title.
The quest is given by human NPCs on space stations, and in order to complete this quest, you'll need:
Upon completion, you'll be able to place a space station in orbit in the current system when you are rewarded your very own Station Transponder.
It's hard to imagine that something so small creates such large space stations.
How to Build Your Starbound Space Station
Now that you have the Station Transponder, you can start building your own space station. To start, deploy a probe into orbit in a system. It'll then start you off with a Teleporter, a Space Station Console, and an Industrial Storage Locker.
Teleporters are already common in ships when teleporting from planet to spaceship, and the Industrial Storage Locker is just another storage object. The Space Station Console is where you can have some fun. The Space Station Console allows you to adjust the gravity level inside the space station.
So not only do you have the option to float or walk around, you can also expansion slots.
Expansion slots look like this aboard your space station.
Types of Rooms
Currently, it looks like there are only two special rooms for the Space Station, which are the Mech Bay and Mech Assembly Room. Aside from those special rooms, most of the other rooms available right now are only structural: T-Junction, Horizontal Corridors, etc.
However, there seem to be future plans for other rooms, like a Hangar Bay or a Research Lab. For now, let's just go over expanding your station with the rooms available and what you need.
Home Improvement
When it comes to expanding your space station, you can interact with Expansion Slots, which are located between sections of your space station. In order to discern whether or not rooms can be connected, rooms listed and highlighted green means that it is possible. Otherwise, if the room is highlighted red, then that room cannot be attached.
As a side note, you cannot rotate rooms, so you must assemble the proper room that can connect from where you started.
Some of these rooms can be assembled so that entrances face a particular way, and they all possess the same ingredients for that specific room.
Starbound Room-Building Requirements
I know creator Ighox calls himself a Space Hobo. But his station
looks fit for a Space Mercenary.
There are numerous rooms that can be built and attached to your station, and each has its own set of material requirements. Here's what you'll need for all of them:

Get Building!
Hopefully, you'll make yourself right at home in your very own space station in no time. Remember to complete the mandatory quest to get started building your own space station and collect tons of titanium bars, gold bars, silver bars, glass, and other components before the big move.
Starbound Frackin Universe Update
Once you're done, you can truly live like a Space Lord, orbiting over all the residents below. On top of that, you can check the Chucklefish Community Forums for some design inspiration.
